If you are tired of dragging your big and heavy furniture like sofa and bed every day just to get a space where you can roll your sleeper sofas on the floor, a two in one furniture like futon is perfect for you. More and more people are discovering the advantage of having a multi purpose furniture inside their house. This type of multi purpose sleeper sofa is a revolutionary type of furniture that saves so much space in your room as it can be converted for specific use.
When investigating a futon frame consider these three things: 1) Hardwood will tends to be stronger than pinewood, 2) Solid wooden cross members will tend to outlast jointed cross members and 3) The More reinforcement the better. Most modern wood futon frames have six major parts; a left arm, a right arm, a back deck, a seat deck, and two stretcher rails (sometimes called cross rails). The hardware that fasten all of these wooden pieces together are most often made up of an ingenious bolt and barrel nut (dowel nut) system that act very much like little vice clamps that hold the joints in place. This makes futon frames easy to assemble and disassemble which can have many advantages.
To ensure you don't get a sore back after a night's rest, get a futon mattress that is at least several inches thick. Although they're normally priced according to their thickness (the thicker the more expensive), you'd still want something at least 6-7 inches in thickness to optimum comfort.
Having worked in retail and having worked in furniture stores carrying futons. I can honestly say that as a retailer it is very frustrating to know that stores still carry low end black metal frames. My intentions in this article are not to be harsh but I really hope retailers figure out that low end products made to hit a particular price point are not doing consumers or themselves any great service. Consumers deserve quality well made products at reasonable prices based on the materials and labor that went into that product. When this doesn't happen expectations aren't met. Disappointment and dissatisfaction soon follow and the consumer is left with a negative feeling towards the product. The intent of this article was to bring forth the experiences I've had with this product line not only from having retailed it but from what customers have shared with me about these products. I feel strongly that black metal futon frames should be avoided by both retailers and consumers alike. If you've had a negative experience with these frames I would encourage you to not judge the entire futon industry by these particular products. If you're a consumer I encourage you to shop a futon retailer or futon specialty store and discover the \"real\" world of futons and what they have to offer for both you and your home.
When it comes to futon mattress materials, you will want one that uses a mixture of cotton and wool as these are the softest of the lot. The cotton and polyester types are also good, as well as extremely light. Light mattresses are vital if you're planning on using them as a sofa or if you're constantly changing premises - they're just a lot more mobile. Pick the heavier mattresses if you're using it only as a bed - these provide a lot more stability and tend to not shift around a lot when you sleep.
